The elderly lady with progressive weakness who stopped walking
In July 2009, an elderly lady came in, referred by a home-care nurse. The patient suffered from polyneuropathy, polymyalgia, fibromyalgia, numbness, and weakness of the legs. Again, no doctor had been able to decipher the reason for the lady’s pain, weakness, and numbness. Once again, we pursued the antecedents -- the flu, which the lady had seven months prior to her visit to me. During her first treatment, the patient needed assistance from three people to get her on the treatment table. Her legs collapsed before her first treatment; as a team, we had to lift her onto the table. After I treated her underlying lung issues, she seemed stronger and was able to stand up more readily. I predicted before the third treatment that I could get her to walk. Sure enough, shortly thereafter, the lady walked for the first time in several months with no assistance -- her daughter was in tears when this happened.

want to write a blog, don't know how to!
ReplyDeleteDear Reader...I have to report that after just one treatment using the suggestions of Ms. Gonzales that I feel a very positive result. My daughter is an acupuncturist which was very convenient as I live with her. So she immediately did what Ms. Gonzales suggested. I have been diagnosed with Adult Onset Pompe Disease...and was taking Nutrimere by Standard Process that was acting as a replacement for acid alpha glucosidase... I have heart palpitations that could have be related to the muscle weakness of Pompe..Nutrimere worked all right and I thot that I was being smart as I am very allergic/sensitive to all meds. But even with this treatment, I was far from well. I have lived a very compromised life of inactivity which started slowly in my late 20s. I am now in my early 70s.
ReplyDeleteI had numerous bouts of colds, flu, strep throat and viruses as a child. My MD father (from Stanford and Cornell Med Schs)loaded me up as a child with antibiotics which seemed to pave the way for more colds. I was very careful with my own children's health and they did not have the illness I did as a child.
So now after several calls to Ms Gonzales, I feel that something major has just come into my life. I have only had one treatment and will continue to blog with my progress. She suggested to have treatment three times a week and even every other day at first which i will do. She emphasized that lung function is compromised with flus and viruses and that oxygen is then minimized to the muscles. WOW..She said that this is a relatively easy fix and that if I had positive results with just one treatment that within a month I should be much better. But then time will tell. I will be diligent in following Ms. Gonzales' advice....This is life changing for me....
Hi, I am back and am only on my third day of recovery. Ms Gonzalez pointed out to me to be very conservative at first with the number of acupuncture points used by the practitioner esp with my long standing illness. She also commented that some people can have severe symptoms after a flu shot which can involve muscle involvement (which would come under the category of flu and virus exposure.) She also commented that in the beginning, a patient can feel very nervous as the lung meeridian opens up which is easily corrected by other acup points. I am feeling these symptoms now. She, by the way, will instruct a patient from her New Jersey locale to you via internet and or by phone....instantly in most case depending on her patient load.
ReplyDeleteWe also concluded with the many kind and instructive conversations that I have had with Ms Gonzalez that this info needs to be widely broadcast as there are desparate parents who could use this for their affected children. It is heartbreaking to have this challenge with your own children, and this info is life changing...if not life saving. I also just contacted Dr. Oz with this info as many look to him in their great distress as he is a strong advocate for alternative medicine. This info needs to be known and I present my experiece with urgency to the reader. Thank you.

ReplyDeleteMy second acupuncture appt is tomorrow, but I was not feeling well today. Ms Gonzalez recommended that I look on SEARCH ON THE INTERNET for the following acupressure points
HEART 7
PERICARDINUM 6
LUNG 6
KIDNEY 1
STOMACH 36
Press and rub in a circular motion with lavendar, peppermint or eucalyptus oil. I did and felt much calmer and better...FABULOUS...Her advice is working from a distance. ..so wonderful..God bless her...

ReplyDeleteStill improving. Had another acup treatment this AM. I don't seem to need as much Nutrimere. The changes are subtle yet also noticeable too. More time needs to pass as this medical treatment processes and settles in.

ReplyDeleteI had my 4th acup appt yesterday and haven't felt so great today...I am doing the list of points I mentioned before and am feeling better. There are only 11 points on the lung meridian so all will be addressed as the days go forward. Be of good cheer.. I have always remained hopeful as I always pray and prayers don't come back void. It is very important to keep your spirits up no matter what. Strength comes each day if we ask.
It is Ms. Gonzalez' view that inherited DNA issues can be turned on or off. And she is attempting to do this with her work on Pompe. Here is an experpt from an article in the New York Times on DNA 9-5-12.VERY interesting...
ReplyDelete"The findings have immediate applications for understanding how alterations in the non-gene parts of DNA contribute to human diseases, which may in turn lead to new drugs. They can also help explain how the environment can affect disease risk. In the case of identical twins, small changes in environmental exposure can slightly alter gene switches, with the result that one twin gets a disease and the other does not."

I am still recovering very nicely...I have a treatment about every three or so days. YES, I have a renewed regard for the efficacy of acupuncture. I very enthusuastically recommend the work of Ms Gonzalez....

ReplyDeleteI am still progressing well with ups and downs. I feel better after an acup treatment, but not as well the next day as my body adjusts both physically and emotionally. I need treatment every three days. One can not hurry this process as the body needs time to heal and adapt to the changes. The ups and downs need to be understood so as not lose hope. I do not need as much Nutrimere, and my strength is holding up well. I am very pleased.
I am amazed that I have done as well as I have with the long distance advice from Ms. Gonzalez. She has graciously volunteered to give her recommendations on points to use after reviewing my health and acup history. I sent this to her some days ago, and look forward to her response. She has been very lovely and welcoming to me.....life changing and my gratitude to her is unbounding.
It is OCT-12 and I continue to improve. I wish that I could see Ms Gonzalez, but I am making progress which is all that matters. She informed me that because my condition is so long standing that recovery would take awhile and it is, but I am not complaining. Again I urge anyone with this condtion to give this theory a serious try. YOU MUST! Call her with your results.
ReplyDeleteDear Reader, I continue to improve. Here it is Thanksgiving and I am so very thankful. Thank you Amy for your revolutionary work and perspectives...truly life changing..God Bless you...He has blessed me through you...

ReplyDeleteI continue to improve. I don't need as many acup treatments, I have noticed. There used to be a real need for them and I looked forward to them, and now I kind of forget about them...which is progress. I recently worked at a garage sale for several hours and became tired, but I think that my fatigue now is just a matter of a lack of exercise. I was really surprised...NO dumbfounded!!! I am not used to physical activity, and it seems odd to me which proves how I adapted in life to the sedentary lifestyle Pompe imposes on a person. Now I walk and do more yard work each day.
You have no idea how my life is changing. Thank you, Ms Gonzalez...from the bottom of my heart. This information needs to be shouted from the roof tops...and I will do this. I am considering how to do this to the highest result..Any thoughts...anyone???
